San Joaquin RTD logo

Beginning on Friday, Nov. 10, San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD) will offer free rides on buses to U.S. veterans and active duty service members who possess a valid military-issued I.D. Qualified service members may ride RTD for free anytime during a one-week period – from Friday, Nov. 10 to Thursday, Nov.16.

To obtain a free ride, they may board an RTD bus and tell the operator they are a veteran or active-duty service member. They will need to present a state-issued I.D. and one of the following forms of identification:

Form DD214 for veterans.

Discount card from San Joaquin County Veterans Services.

Current military I.D.

“We are proud to be able to thank our veterans and active duty service members,” said Donna DeMartino, RTD’s CEO. “They have served our nation, and now we have an opportunity to serve them.”

Visitors to the Downtown Transit Center may view the RTD “Veterans Wall,” a photographic collage of RTD employees and family members who have served in the U.S. military. The RTD Veterans Bus with a special wrap honoring all the military branches will be providing some of the rides to veterans and active duty service members.
