New Melones Visitor Center will put the focus on the Me-Wuk this weekend. All are invited to attend festivities on Saturday, April 30, and join in the second Annual Me-Wuk Heritage Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This will be a celebration of the Me-Wuk culture. There will be a blessing at 9:30 a.m. and traditional dancing at 10 a.m. They will have booths set up with demonstrations of bead work, jewelry making, basketry, flint napping, native plants, acorn preparation and storytelling.
