Me-Wuk Heritage Day At New Melones

New Melones Visitor Center will put the focus on the Me-Wuk this weekend.

All are invited to attend festivities on Saturday, April 30, and join in the second Annual Me-Wuk Heritage Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This will be a celebration of the Me-Wuk culture. There will be a blessing at 9:30 a.m. and traditional dancing at 10 a.m. They will have booths set up with demonstrations of bead work, jewelry making, basketry, flint napping, native plants, acorn preparation and storytelling. There promises to be something for everyone and all activities will be hosted at the Visitors Center.
