DUI Collision Kills One, Injures Three

A Manteca man is facing criminal charges for a collision Sunday night in Escalon that killed one man and injured three other individuals, including a child, the California Highway patrol reported.

The name of the deceased was not released pending next of kin notification. He was a 56-year-old man from Dos Palos.

The collision was reported at 9 p.m. Sunday, July 18 in the area of Mariposa and Dodds roads.

Fortino Reyes-Domingo, 45, of Manteca was driving a 2015 Chevy south on Dodds Road , north of Mariposa road, at an estimated speed of 10 miles per hour, according to the CHP.

A 1999 Chevy, being driven by the 56-year-old Dos Palos man, was driving east on Mariposa Road, west of Dodds Road at an estimated 55 miles per hour.

Both vehicles were approaching the intersection. Reyes-Domingo drove into the intersection, directly into the path of the 1999 Chevy. The driver was unable to avoid the 2015 Chevy and the two vehicles collided broadside in the intersection, according to the CHP.

The force of the impact caused a fatal injury to the 56-year-old man and he was pronounced deceased at the scene. The deceased was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.

A 50-year-old Dos Palos woman who was a passenger in the 1999 Chevy, sustained major injuries and was rushed to San Joaquin County General Hospital, the CHP reported.

A 52-year-old Manteca woman was a passenger in the 2015 Chevy and sustained moderate injuries in the crash. She was taken to San Joaquin County General Hospital.

A 10-year-old girl from Manteca also was a passenger in the 2015 Chevy. She had moderate injuries and was taken to UC Davis for treatment.

Reyes-Domingo was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody. He was booked into San Joaquin County Jail.
