Toddler/Preschool Storytime at the Escalon Library, 1540 Second St., is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 3 at 10:30 a.m. On Tuesdays, the drop in knitting group is open to all with an interest in the craft; bring your own materials and enjoy knitting and socialization from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Also don’t forget that the Senior Gentle Exercise Class is open to local seniors every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., in the Ekholm Meeting room at the library, focuses on strength and flexibility.

Escalon’s annual Veterans’ Day observance is fast approaching and Escalon American Legion Post 263 Adjutant Vince Giovaniello is looking for entries for the parade. The events of Friday, Nov. 11 will start with the parade on Main Street in Escalon, kicking off at 10:30 a.m. There will be a brief Memorial Service at the Community Center Memorial Wall following the parade and a chicken barbecue at the city’s Community Center served from noon to 3 p.m. Giovaniello is the parade coordinator and more information about participating in the parade is available by contacting him at 209-869-6978 or 209-604-9100. Parade entries are due by Monday, Nov. 7.

Riverbank welcomes the REO Speechtrain Toastmasters Club for regular meetings every Wednesday morning from 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. at Perko’s Cafe, Patterson and Oakdale roads, Riverbank. This is a fun way to learn the self-confidence and skills needed for public speaking. All are invited to come and check out the group. The next meeting will be Wednesday, Nov. 9. St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oakdale will host the 11th Annual Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will be hosted at the Parish Hall, 55 Oak St., Oakdale. Close to 50 vendors are expected with items including quilts, jewelry, toys, leather goods and home décor. Proceeds from the event are used for Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets for families in need. For more information call 985-1486.

The 2016 holiday season will kick-off as hundreds of families will join together to light-up Tree of Lights throughout San Joaquin County. This year Hospice of San Joaquin’s Tree of Lights program is in its 28th year of helping area families honor a loved one on one of the eight trees of lights. Escalon’s tree will be lit Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 6 p.m. The tree lighting will be hosted by the City of Escalon and Escalon Chamber of Commerce. The tree is located at Main Street Park, corner of Main and Second streets. The Stanislaus Senior Foundation will host its Annual Holiday Fundraiser on Friday, Dec. 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will be held at the historic McHenry Museum, 1402 I St., Modesto.
