Council Cancels Meeting, Plans Prop 64 Workshop
escalon

Due to a lack of agenda items for the Monday, March 20 regular Escalon City Council meeting, the 7 p.m. session has been cancelled.

However, the council has agreed instead to offer another workshop on Prop 64.

The council will meet at 6 p.m. for the workshop, which will allow the council members, city officials and the public the chance to continue discussions regarding regulations for Prop 64, the recreational marijuana proposition.

The proposition was passed by California voters last November. Individual communities, however, can address it on a local level, putting some restrictions and guidelines in place regarding portions of the proposition covering indoor grows, personal use, outdoor cultivation and the like. The council continues to review options and is seeking additional input from the public.

The 6 p.m. meeting on Monday will be hosted in the City Council Chambers at Escalon City Hall, 2060 McHenry Ave.

Meanwhile, the next regularly scheduled council meeting will be on Monday, April 3.
