From "Doc Alders, Farmington's Lone Eagle" A Reminiscence. Doc's classmate "Willie" Mobley rode his horse to school. The Mobley's had lived on Mobley Road near Gawne Road. Willie's dad, W.D. "Cue" Mobley had 330 acres. Willie rode his horse over five miles to get to school. Most of his ride was on what was then Mobley Road. Years later (prior to 1960) the section of Mobley Road that intersected Highway 4 was renamed Stanley Road and the Drais Road were named to honor pioneers having those names. The names were switched. The old Stanley ranch was located on what is now called Drais Road and the 450 acres once owned by Henry Drais borders what is now called Stanley Road. During WWII, it was Mobley Road. Mr. Cue resented their road being renamed. Doc recalled every time the county put up the new road sign, Mr. Cue would come out and tear it down. The county finally responded with a concrete one. This was unimaginable in 1923.
