Farmington Fire Cancels Annual Pancake Breakfast

Hosted the Sunday after Mother’s Day each year, the Farmington Fire Department has been forced to cancel its annual Pancake Breakfast this year.

Farmington Fire Chief Conni Bailey said the decision was one they felt had to be made, in light of the continuing social distancing guidelines in place.

“It is with a very heavy heart we have to announce we are canceling the pancake breakfast,” Bailey said. “This will be the first time since it started we have had to cancel it.”

This year, in fact, would have been the 38th year for the annual breakfast, which features pancakes, ham, eggs, beverages and more, along with a wide variety of raffle prizes.

“We’re sending out letters and posting flyers,” Bailey said of informing the community and longtime attendees. “We waited as long as we could to make the decision … it’s so sad.”

This year’s breakfast was originally scheduled for Sunday, May 17 at the firehouse, corner of Highway 4 and Escalon-Bellota Road in Farmington.
