Saturday Memorial

Make plans to attend the 9-11 Community Moment of Silence and Prayer, remembering on Sept. 11. The gathering will be hosted at the Escalon Fire District, at the Coley Avenue firehouse, 1749 Coley. This year will be the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in 2001 and the memorial service will begin at 9:11 a.m. on Saturday. Social distancing guidelines will be followed during all portions of the gathering. This will be an outdoor event and access to the fire station building will be limited.

 

September Tour Slated

The Escalon Historical Society is hosting its 11th Home and Garden Tour and Luncheon on Saturday, Sept. 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person and are available at the museum on Main Street or by calling Dorothy Miller at 209-838-7176. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Vaughn Gardens will serve as one stop on the tour, where the luncheon will be served. Also featured will be the Cowin Home, a unique part of local history.

 

Bowlers Hit Lanes

Members of the local El Portal Bowling League are excited to gather on Thursday, Sept. 9 at 9:30 a.m. in the conference room at McHenry Bowl in Modesto for a quick session, with the bowling league to begin a new season of competition at 10 a.m. All are welcome to be a part of the weekly league. Downtown Sip And Stroll

A returning favorite event, the Escalon Chamber of Commerce has announced that the annual Wine and Brew Stroll will be hosted on Main Street on Saturday, Sept. 25. The stroll will run from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and tickets are available online. Cost is $30 per person, which includes a souvenir wine glass to be used during the evening tasting.
