A project that has been in the making for some time now, members of the Escalon Farmington Community Garden Club are gearing up for the dedication of a Blue Star Memorial Marker.
“We are very excited to be having this dedication and are inviting the entire community,” said Garden Club Co-Vice President Dee Ann Blowers, adding that the group is putting up posters throughout the community.
The dedication ceremony for the Blue Star Memorial Marker is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 24 at the Escalon Community Center, 1055 Escalon Ave.
“We welcome all Armed Forces members, Veterans and members of the community to help us honor our past and present service men and women,” the invitation notes.
Garden Club members also issued special thanks to several organizations, entities and individuals that have been instrumental in helping get the project completed. Those include the City of Escalon, San Joaquin County Supervisor Robert Rickman, former San Joaquin County Sheriff Steve Moore, American Legion Post 263, Parks Nursery, Escalon and Park Greenhouse Garden Center, Ripon, along with many members of the community that made “generous contributions to this project.”
Blowers said the club is hopeful of a good turnout, and they are deeply appreciative of all those that have helped bring the memorial marker project to fruition.
