With a series of performances lined up, officials with the West Side Theatre in Newman recently announced its July and August events. The venue is the Theatre’s restored 1940’s movie house, now a non-profit arts center.

Shows in July are set for Saturdays, July 8, 15 and 29.
July 8 at 8 p.m. – Cantares De Mi Tierra Presenta Noche De Boleros y Rancheras. “Music of the Earth” featuring Olivia Gonzales and her trio with opening act Sol Valdez.
July 15 at 8 p.m. –Newman resident Kelly McDonald with opening act Lawrence Carbery will be performing for the Newman Fall Festival Float Fundraiser. McDonald tours all over the Western United States at all the major rodeos. Come out and support the Fall Festival Float and have a good ol’ country western time.
July 29 at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. – Missoula Children’s Theatre presents their version of Blackbeard the Pirate. The Tour Directors audition up to 62 local children K-12 on Monday, July 24 and put on a one-hour musical on Saturday, July 29. A truly amazing experience for the kids.
August shows are slated for Saturdays, Aug. 5, 12 and 19; as well as Friday, Aug. 25.
Aug. 5 at 8 p.m. – The Traveling Wilburys Revue. Bringing that music of the Wilburys and the hits from each of these individual artists to every show. Here Comes The Sun, Won’t Back Down, Pretty Woman, Like A Rolling Stone, Don’t Bring Me Down, and more that everyone knows and loves. Now fans can finally see and hear these great songs at every performance including the music of George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynne.
Aug. 12 at 8 p.m. – Dean-O-Holics “Rat Pack” Tribute. Pure Vintage Vegas and Retro Reno Nevada, circa 1960 at the Summit. Swingin’, smoke-filled and flowin’ with booze, a gasser of a time and a sound that will knock you right ‘outta your Mary Janes.
Aug.19 at 8 p.m. – Big Brother and the Holding Company - Janis Joplin’s original band. Big Brother and the Holding Company was the band that helped make Janis Joplin famous back in the ‘60s. Original members Peter Albin and Dave Getz are joined by Darby Gould (performing as Janis Joplin), Tom Finch, Kate Thompson, and David Aguilar. Join in for this special show as we take you back to the ‘60s with the great group of musicians.
Aug. 25 at 8 p.m. – Boys of Summer Eagles Tribute. The Boys of Summer are a spot-on tribute to the music of the Eagles. Playing all over the Western United States, this show is always a sellout.
