St. James Concert Series Presents Trimusica

The St. James Concert Series celebrates the opening of its 38th season with the return of popular artist, cellist Susan Lamb Cook, this time with two of her friends. TriMusica, a clarinet, cello and piano trio, presents a program with works by Bruch, Mozart, Juon, and Brahms.

TriMusica – Classical Trio will perform at The Red Church in Sonora on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 3 p.m.

Tickets prices for adults are $15; students under 18, price is $6.

Susan Lamb Cook is an active performer and educator both nationally and internationally. She is sought after as soloist and chamber musician, and her performances have thrilled audiences throughout Europe, the Far East, and the United States. Cook is a member of the California Association of Professional Music Teachers, Music Teachers’ Association of California, and the American String Teachers Association. She is also co-author of Guide to Teaching Strings by Norman Lamb. She is director of the Sacramento Youth Symphony’s Chamber Music Workshop, and her students perform regularly for competitions and public concerts.

For this performance, she is joined by musician friends Sandra Moats McPherson and John Cozza.

Sandra Moats McPherson, clarinet, performs frequently as principal clarinetist and bass clarinetist in numerous Northern California orchestras, including the Sacramento Philharmonic, Opera, and Choral Society Orchestras. For the past two summers, she performed orchestral and chamber music in Eisenstadt and Vienna, Austria as part of the annual Classical Music Festival. McPherson has extensive experience as a chamber music performer and coach, and, as a member of the Harmonic Winds, performs educational concerts throughout the region. She has also performed at the Crocker Art Museum Sunday Series, Sacramento State’s Festival of New American Music, Chamber Music Alive!, and the Capital Chamber Players Series.

John Cozza is in demand throughout California as teacher, coach/accompanist, chamber musician, adjudicator and clinician; he teaches accompanying and piano in the Conservatory of Music at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, as well as holding the position of Staff Accompanist at Sacramento State University. Cozza is the current President of the Sacramento Saturday Club, the oldest musical organization in Sacramento, and one of the oldest west of the Rockies.

The St. James Concert Series is dedicated to bringing classical, semi-classical, folk and jazz to the Motherlode. With that purpose in mind, the Series offers this season’s schedule of six concerts which, in addition to TriMusica, will present the Sing-along Messiah on Dec. 10; Golden Bough Celtic Ensemble on Jan. 28, 2018; LukyCuZn Brass ensemble on March 11; Natsuki Fukasawa, pianist, on April 15; and Joy Willow and Paula Crist, sopranos, on May 20.

The Messiah will be held at the 49er Church in Columbia; all other Series concerts are held at the Red Church.
