While diehard fans can debate for hours which football team reigns supreme, there is one thing they can probably all agree on: the best place to watch the next game — and indulge in irresistible drink and food specials — is at one of Turlock’s downtown restaurants or bars.
With over 23 televisions dispersed throughout the restaurant and on the patio — 12 of which can be combined to form three big screen televisions — you’ll never miss the game-winning play if you choose to watch a football game at Hauck’s Grill in Turlock.
“We actually get pretty full,” said general manager Jessica Winans. “We don’t show just football games, we show every possible sporting event. We’ve shown UFC fights, basketball, baseball, hockey — we always have sports on.”
When it comes to drink specials during football games, Hauck’s Grill offers $4 bloody marys, $3.50 mimosas, $4 16 ounce draft beers, and $5 20 ounce draft beers. Additionally, if it is a Sunday football game, the restaurant offers bottomless mimosas for $10. The restaurant also boasts a happy hour menu from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, at which time customers can treat themselves to dollar-off draft beers and $3 well drinks. Customers can also enjoy a full menu that includes burgers, trip-tip sandwiches, pulled pork sandwiches, salads, ribs and a myriad of sides.
“It’s a really good atmosphere for anyone who wants to come out and have a nice drink. We have the coldest beers in town with the best pricing,” said Winans. “It’s good for families as well.”
Hauck’s Grill is located at 142 W. Main Street. The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday through Saturday, and 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Visit haucksgrill.com or call 250-2653 for more information.
Down the road at The Udder Place, owner Jerry Powell said customers can come in to watch every football game on one of three 110” projector screens, eight 60” TVs inside and two 48” TVs on the patio in a “laid back, casual and fun” environment.” While they watch, customers can also indulge in drink specials that vary by game, and create their very own bloody mary. Powell said that in order to stay up-to-date on what drink specials are being offered for each game, check out The Udder Place’s Instagram or Facebook page.
“We have the largest TVs in town,” said Powell. “Everything is new and fun. It’s a casual, secure environment.”
Additionally, The Udder Place opened its own kitchen Thursday, allowing the bar to provide a variety of food to complement the business’ many drink specials. Powell said the new menu boasts including burgers, chicken sandwiches, french fries, oysters, deep fried pickles, beef brisket, tri-tip, chicken tenders, onion rings and other bar foods.
Powell said that for the big game in February, The Udder Place has plans to offer different food and drink specials — the specifics of which will be finalized closer to game day.
The Udder Place is located at 110 W. Main Street. The bar is open from 4 p.m to 12 a.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. Sunday. For more information, call 250-2464.
Over at Jura’s Pizza, owner Papiola Aghassi said that the pizza parlor airs football games three times a week, with some games bringing in enough customers to push the business to full capacity at 150 people.
With three large projectors, 4 TVs located at the bar, 4 TVs in the game room, and 4 TVs in the main dining room, it’s easy to see why customers go to the local pizza parlor to watch their favorite team play. To further amp up the appeal, Aghassi said that the pizza parlor also offers beer specials, including $7 for domestic beers and $10 for imported beers, and food specials, such as $10 for a large pepperoni pizza.
“Jura’s has always been the local go-to place to be to watch football games and the Superbowl. We have been for 14 or 15 years now,” said Aghassi. “And for the Superbowl we go all out with snacks at no extra charge.”
Located at 309 N. Center Street, Jura’s Pizza is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Sunday. For more information, visit juraspizza.com or call 667-1902.
