Stage 3 Theatre Company in Sonora is currently staging “The Underpants” by Carl Sternheim, adapted by Steve Martin, running through Sunday, Aug. 27.

Steve Martin, the renowned comic actor, provides a wild satire adapted from the classic German play about Louise and Theo Markes, a couple whose conservative existence is shattered when Louise’s bloomers fall down in public.

The production is directed by Graham Green whose 30-plus year career has taken him to theatre companies all across the country. The cast includes Jenna Abney, Travis Blansit, Bernadette Mello, George Falero, Denny Bowen and Hugo F. Martinez.

This production is being performed on the stage in the Sonora High School auditorium due to the unknown completion date of the theatre’s former Green Street location in historic Sonora that is currently under renovation along with the creation of the Green Dog Beer Company. The high school is at 430 N. Washington St., Sonora.

Showtimes are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 7:30 p.m., with 2 p.m. matinees Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are available at the box office, 161 S. Washington St., Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and at the door one hour before showtime.
