Though school is now officially out for the summer, members of the Escalon High School cross country team are getting in some training on Thursday mornings this summer and the EHS track and field team is planning a free event for the community later this month.
On Saturday, June 28, the team will put on a Community Fun Run for all ages, being hosted at the track on Engel Field on the EHS campus.
“It’s for all ages; there will be various distances, as short as 50 meters for the youngsters and as far as one mile for older kids and those advanced in age,” coach Arend Jones said of the family fun day.
The event is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. and will last roughly an hour and a half, Jones added.
“There will be some prizes for participants, along with Otter Pops and water,” the coach explained. “The EHS track and field program welcomes families to come and run and compete with each other for a fun Saturday morning.”
