After shutting out Summerville on the road Tuesday, the Lady Cougar varsity soccer squad was on the wrong end of a lopsided loss on Thursday.

“It was a 2-0 win at Summerville,” explained head coach Jamie Peoples of the March 8 game. “Vanessa Kualapai had both assists, Alondra Martinez had a goal off of a corner kick, Madison Kindberg had the other goal. Sarah Leal 12 saves.”

As efficient as the girls were on Tuesday, it was the opposite on Thursday at Amador as the host team shut out Escalon 9-0. The girls were down 7-0 after the first half and though they were able to hold Amador to just two goals in the second half, they couldn’t find the net themselves. Leal had nine saves.

Action this week will see the team open up Trans-Valley League play by hosting Riverbank on Thursday, March 17 at 4 p.m.

They travel to Ripon for TVL play next Tuesday, March 22 at 4 p.m.
