Bowlers Wrap Up Season With Roll Off Action

The final regular week of action in the El Portal Bowling League saw The Erratics on top at 40-20, sealing the second half winning record.

They were followed by Memorial Splitting Headaches, Dutch Girls, Pin Ups, 34-26; U-3, 33-27; Elaine’s Travel, 32½-27½; Lunch Bunch, 31½-28½; Farm Girls, 31-29; Foxy Ladies, 29½-30½; Bartelink Dairy, 27½-32½; Escalon Body & Frame, 25-35.

Notching the top scores for the week were Chris Magana, 181 scratch game and 233 handicap game; Stacy Lub, 500 scratch series and Luann Oney, 670 handicap series.

Escalon Body & Frame was the winner of the first half of the league season and on May 4 battled against the second half winner, The Erratics for first place honors overall in the league. The roll off saw The Erratics take home the league title, winning by 23 pins over second place Escalon Body & Frame.

Team members for The Erratics were Luann Oney, Lenny Nottley and Anita Hay. Escalon Body & Frame team members were Elaine McGuire, Ginger Serpa and Connie Johnson.

For the season, Chris Magana took home the high handicap series honors at 719, while Kelly Homen had the high handicap game, 274; Jennifer Cunningham high scratch series, 520 and Lenny Nottley, high scratch game, 210. Winning for most improved was Marge Riley, improving her average by 16.50 pins, bowling on the Elaine’s Travel team.

The league will be donating $2000 to El Portal Middle School to help pay for Science Camp. The new bowling season will start on Sept. 7 and run through May 3, 2018 with competition at McHenry Bowl in Modesto on Thursday mornings.
