Annual La Grange Rodeo Coming Up On March 25

The 71st annual La Grange Rodeo is coming up on Sunday, March 25. It’s a full day, with roping and riding events starting 8 a.m.

Get there around noon to see the Rodeo Queen crowning ceremony. The Grand Entry is at 1 p.m., followed by competition in multiple events at the La Grange Rodeo Arena, overlooking the Tuolumne River canyon, east of town on Highway 132. The rodeo arena address is 30433 Yosemite Blvd.

Scheduled are bull riding, bareback and saddle bronc riding, team roping and calf roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing, and entertainment by the rodeo clowns. There’s also the goat scramble for kids eight and under.

There will be plenty of food and refreshments available for purchase.

Tickets for the La Grange Rodeo are $15 at the gate, $10 for kids ages six to 12, with five and under admitted free. Pre-sale ticket prices are $12 and $8, available from a member of the La Grange Rodeo Association, one of the Queen candidates, and selected local area businesses. The earliest rodeo of the season, the La Grange Rodeo is also one of the oldest. In 1948 local ranchers organized the first one as part of the Centennial celebration for La Grange, Gold Rush town turned cow town.
