A benefit event, a Ball Drop Fundraiser, is set for this Saturday, Aug. 9 for the First Tee program. The ‘drop’ is set for 11 a.m. at the Escalon Golf Course along Escalon-Bellota Road.

Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased from First Tee students and their parents, or at the Escalon Golf Course. First Place is a $500 prize for the ball that drops into or closest to the hole. The balls are dropped from high above the hole at the local course. There will also be several other prizes for the next closest balls to the hole. The American Crane Rental company, from Escalon, provided the crane last year and other festivities included a hamburger BBQ, face-painting, and more.

First Tee introduces youngsters to the sport of golf and also focuses on sportsmanship, leadership and life skills.
