Escalon Golfers Card Two More Victories
ADAMS
Escalon’s Ella Adams gets ready for the short putt to complete a hole on the Escalon golf course in action against Amador on Thursday, Sept. 5

Action for the Escalon Lady Cougar golfers saw them put two more wins on the books this past week.

On Tuesday, they took on Waterford at the par 28 St. Stanislaus course and came away with a 156-191 win.

Scores were Lucy Allbaugh and Mikayla Schut, 38; Ella MacKinnon and Ella Adams, 40; Kara Kennedy 47; Jianna Cereghino, 54.

“This course is very similar to Escalon with fewer trees. It was very slow, six other teams had match also,” said head coach Kristie Cathcart. “As a team, we need to work on our short game to get better overall.”

Thursday, Sept. 5 on the home course, it was Escalon winning 156-215 against Amador.

Schut carded the low round of the day at 35, followed by Adams at 38, Allbaugh, 40; MacKinnon, 43; Bella Ambro, 49; Sarah Bava, 51.

“I changed the players around a little bit to give some other girls a chance to prepare for playing next week. Good score for us. With this score we will beat everybody else in league except Ripon,” Cathcart noted. “Ripon is really good this year. We will need to get into the 140s to guarantee a win.”

This week is a busy one for the Lady Cougars on the links as they were scheduled to play in the Yellowjacket Tournament on Monday at Diablo Grande and then face off with Ripon on Tuesday, after The Times went to press. The JV golf girls were scheduled to play against Hughson and Livingston on Wednesday and the team goes to Phoenix Lakes to play against Summerville on Thursday, Sept. 12.
