Five Cougar representatives have been tapped to play ball later this summer, taking part in the 15th annual High School All-Star Baseball/Softball Classic, set for Friday, July 15.

It's the time of year when the top young men and women athletes from 25 high schools across San Joaquin County and the Central Valley area will take the field at San Joaquin Delta College Sports Complexes in Stockton for the competition.

Escalon will send baseball standouts Grant Goedhart and Peter Krumeich to the game, playing on the South squad, while softball players Mandy San Julian, Erica Bogar and Amanda Ainsworth have also been selected and will play for the South softball team in the classic.

Opening Ceremonies for the men's baseball begin at 4:45 p.m. and the women's softball opening ceremonies follow at 5:25 p.m. Advance sale tickets are available now and can be purchased through local high schools. Admission at the gate will be $5, with children 10 and under admitted free. Proceeds for this year's benefit will go to the Stockton Police Youth Activities, Mitts 4 Kids Foundation, San Joaquin County Boys and Girls Clubs, High School Sports Programs and the GHB Project.
