Escalon’s golf team ended its season, coming up just a little short in the Divisionals.

“We gave it all we had, and came up a little short. We were very proud of how our men handled adversity. They showed incredible character, and we, as coaches, are very proud of our young men,” said head coach Ron Gutierrez.

Steven Gately will move on to the Masters Tournament, with his lowest score of the year, posting an 81.

“We’re very proud of his improvements. Not only as a golfer, but as a young man,” Gutierrez added.

Matt Spurgeon had his best round of 91. Nathan Sarkozy shot a 96. James Wentzell shot a 98, Ian Gregg came in with a 98 and Max Mello rounded out the scoring with a 109.

“An incredible year, and we’re thankful for the wonderful support of our supportive school administration, generous Boosters, great parents, and the unbelievable community ... It’s an honor to be part of this wonderful city,” Gutierrez said.
