Making their mark for the Escalon varsity softball squad this season were, sophomore Arianna Velasco, left, and junior Madison Babasa. At the recent Sports Awards Night at Escalon High School, Velasco received the team’s Defensive Player of the Year award in addition to All Trans-Valley League honors. Babasa was selected for the team’s Most Valuable Player award, and also received All-TVL honors in addition to being named as this year’s Trans-Valley League Most Outstanding Player. Velasco served as the team’s shortstop, anchoring the infield defense, while Babasa saw time both on the mound and at third base.
