Hosted at Ripon High School on Thursday, May 2, a number of Escalon High School athletes put together solid performance at the Trans-Valley League track and field finals.

“Despite a couple of significant challenges involving a number of illnesses and a few injuries, the Escalon Cougars still persevered and managed to have a good showing Thursday,” said coach Arend Jones. “Seventeen athletes placed in the top four of their events to move on to Divisionals on Wednesday and Friday, May 8 and 10 at Riverbank High School.”

Leading the way for Escalon was senior Chloe Farley, who took first place in both the discus and shot put, earning herself a pair of TVL championship titles. Junior Megan Silva placed second and third in the 100 and 200 meter sprints, respectively.

Also, said Jones, junior John Konradi was second in high jump and freshman Kylie Fast was second in the girls 800 meter race. Sophomore Gloria Segura was second in discus behind her teammate Farley.

“Andrew Morales, a senior, placed third in the 1600 meter race,” said Jones.

Also, the boys 4-by-800 meter relay, 4-by-100 meter relay and the girls 4-by-100 meter relay teams qualified to move on to the Divisional round.

Competition begins Wednesday, May 8 at Riverbank High with the first event being the boys 4-by-800 meter relay race, starting at 2:45 p.m.
