Valarie Schilber passed away peacefully on January 6, 2020, at the age of 89 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Schilber. Val was born and raised in Escalon and spent her married life to Gerry in this city, who ran Escalon Auto Parts for over 40 years. They were members of Oakdale Golf & Country Club as well as Spring Creek Country Club. Val ran a decorating studio in Downtown Escalon for many years. In addition to golfing, they enjoyed sailing and traveling but were always happy to return to Escalon.
Val was also preceded in death by her son, Douglas Carl Sharp. She is survived by her four remaining children, Colleen Alfieri (Jim), Kevin Sharp (Janet), Craig Sharp (Shelley) and Brian Sharp (Erica).
She is also survived by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
After Gerry’s death, she decided to sell her home and move to an apartment at Casa de Modesto. It turned out to be a very good decision for her. She enjoyed it immensely and met a nice gentleman. They did some traveling together and enjoyed each other’s company until Russ’s passing.
The family is very grateful to the Community Hospice nurses who took such excellent care of our mother. They are angels and we will forever be thankful for their loving care.
