Steve D. Caldwell passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. Steve was born in Oakdale, California and raised in Coulterville, California. Growing up surrounded by the beauty of the Sierras, Steve developed his life-long love of the outdoors. He was a graduate of Mariposa High School where he was active in sports. Steve went on to play football at Merced Junior College.
Steve’s greatest joys in life were his grandchildren and fishing. Throughout his life Steve could be found with a line in the water spending time outdoors. He eagerly shared his passion including the secret spots with family and friends.
Steve was an excellent chef and was often in the kitchen or at the BBQ cooking for family and friends. Together with his “right hand” Sharon, he was happiest when they were spending time with family. Whether it was a Sunday drive, the annual family trip, cheering on grandkids at their activities, holiday celebrations, or playing in the family fantasy football league, he loved it when everyone was together.
Steve is survived by his wife, Sharon, and children, Ryan (Kristine), Danielle (Don), and Travis. He leaves behind three adoring grandchildren who will greatly miss their “Papa”. He will be remembered with love by many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by parents, Dave and Maxine, and brothers, Frank and Paul.
Steve faced some challenges over the years but no matter what, he persevered and never gave up hope. The Caldwell family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Memorial Medical Center Infusion Center and Dr. Swati Andhavarapu for their comfort and loving care.
Please join the family for a celebration of Steve’s life on Friday, August 20 at 3 p.m., at the Azores Band Hall, 1436 First St., Escalon, California.
