Shirley Perez “Arizona” passed away on Feb. 2, 2016 in Modesto at the age of 79. Shirley was born on May 20, 1936 to Sherrill and Beulah Brown in Colorado Springs, CO. She has been a California resident her entire life. Shirley graduated from UC Berkeley and worked as a school teacher for Fremont Unified School District until her retirement. She was very active in several Masonic Organizations and the Loyal Order of the Moose. Shirley leaves behind her children, Mervyn Lyle James II of Cottonwood, CA and Stacey Loreen Tompson of Escalon, CA; her grandchildren, Jessica Rozevink, Krystal-Rose Welch, A.J. Welch, Kylie Tompson, Kymberly Tompson, Chase Tompson, Jonathan Lee, Kayla James, Cody James and Dusty James along with five great grandchildren. Shirley is preceded in death by her brother, Sherill James Brown.
