Rosemary “Rosie” Northcutt, 70, of Escalon passed away due to natural causes on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013 in Modesto. She was born in Vallejo, CA on Jan. 22, 1943 to Billie and Ralph Northcutt. They lived in Stockton before settling in Escalon where they had a Jersey dairy.
Rosie attended Gleenwood School in Stockton, Dent Union Elementary, Escalon High and Modesto Junior College. While in school she was active in 4-H and had a female Jersey cow that won California State Fair Jersey Grand Champion. Rosie loved to travel and camp, Pinecrest being her favorite place. She worked for Escalon Unified School District, mostly at Dent Elementary, for over 30 years.
She loved watching Escalon High School sports. In 1998 she was honored by being the Homecoming Parade Grand Marshal. One of her most memorable times was watching Escalon High School Football and Baseball teams win their State Championships. She was an active member of the EHS Sports Boosters and loved the “Purple and Gold”. Rosie was a true #1 fan.
Survivors include her daughter Regina and her grandchildren, James and Maria, all of Texas; sister Shirley; brothers Ronnie and Randy, all of Escalon; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and her best friend Leslie.
A special thank you to her sister-in-law Ruenell, who was there every step of the way; friends and neighbors for all of their support, and her caretaker Kim Bond, and Lidia’s Blessed Home for their excellent care.
Arrangements are being handled by Deegan Funeral Chapel.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Burwood Cemetery, 28320 E. River Road, Escalon. Following the graveside service, all are invited to join the family in celebration of Rosie’s life at the Dent Elementary School Cafeteria in Escalon.
