Roland Lee Heard passed away peacefully on March 10, 2018 in Hughson, California at the age of 86. Roland was born on Valentine’s Day, 1932 in Southern California to Dee and Ida Heard. He has been a resident of Escalon for the past 70 years.
After high school, Roland served in the US Air Force for three years. After being discharged, Roland went to work for Hogan Manufacturing in Escalon where he worked from 1955 until his retirement, 42 years later. On his time off, Roland enjoyed boating and traveling with his wife, Doris. Together, Roland and Doris enjoyed attending church and spending time with family. Roland will be remembered for his great sense of humor, hard work and honesty.
Roland leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Doris Heard, his children, Patty Brown (Charles) and Cliff Heard (Cheri), his grandchildren, Karen Powell, Vince Powell (Julie), Taneatha Duncan, Chellie Heard and Justin Heard (April), along with five great grandchildren and his brother, Wallace Heard (Pauline).
Deegan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Heard family. A graveside service was held on Friday, March 16 at 2 p.m. at Burwood Cemetery. Donations in Roland’s memory may be made to Community Hospice.
