Robert Daniel Gunn, 22, died Monday, June 21.

He was born Jan. 9, 1988 in Berkeley, CA at Alta Bates Hospital; arriving six weeks early, weighing just four pounds, four ounces.

He graduated from Escalon High School in 2006. In 2003, Robert and his brothers were recognized as heroes for saving an elderly man from his burning home.

From the age of seven he excelled at mechanics. He loved go-karts, lifted trucks, street bikes, anything he could put a wrench on. He was always willing to help a friend or stranger. He loved to go fast.

Survivors include his parents, Kevin and Cyndi Gunn; sister Jodi Hansen; brothers, Kevin and Joe Gunn; and a number of extended family, friends and loved ones.

Public visitation will be at Deegan Funeral Chapel on Thursday, July 1 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 2 at 1 p.m. at Escalon Covenant Church, 1155 Escalon Ave.

Private burial procession will be at Burwood Cemetery, but those who want to pay their respects can go to Robert's home at 19022 So. Von Glahn Road, Escalon, for a celebration of life with family, friends and loved ones immediately following.
