Ramon “Ray” Famoso passed away March 27, 2021 at the age of 86 in Escalon, CA. Ray was born on November 2, 1934 to Ysidra and Esperanza Famoso in Crockett, CA. Ray enlisted with the United States Army in 1955 and served in the Korean War. Ray lived in Southern California for most of his younger adulthood. While living there, he became a fanatic for the Raiders and even held season tickets for many years. He also enjoyed watching the San Francisco Giants games.
Ray would eventually find the love of his life, Emily. They were married for 37 years until her passing. In 1986, Ray and Emily moved to Escalon to be closer to family. Ray and Emily loved to travel. Their traveling took them to Cabo San Lucas and Terceira, Azores. Ray loved his family and loved spending time with them and all of the family gatherings that brought them all together.
Ray is survived by many nieces and nephews, Michael Pires (Cheryl) of Manteca, Manuel Pires (Maria) of Lodi, Joe Pires (Maria) of Escalon, Angela Cardoza (Jeff) of Escalon, Natercia Widmer (Paul) of Escalon, Arlindo Gomes (Graca) of Terceira and John Gomes (Anabela) of Terceira; sister in-law’s, Maria Pires of Escalon, Alvarena Gomes of Terceira and his cousins, Luisa Gomes of Terceira and Mary Furlong. His loving wife of 37 years, Emily and his brother, Albert Famoso preceded him in death.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Deegan Funeral Chapel. Services will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 19399 CA-120, Ripon, CA 95366 Thursday, April 8, 2021 with a viewing at 9:30 a.m., Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., followed by Committal at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. To send the family your condolences, please visit Ray’s tribute page at www.deeganfuneralchapels.com.
