Pete Flores Jr. passed away on October 27, 2021 leaving behind a long family line that loved him immensely. Pete was born on September 24, 1934 in Tornillo, Texas to Pedro Sr. and Maria Villescas Flores. He was a self-made man that preferred to be his own boss than work for anyone else. This led him to a variety of careers including owning a gas station in Hollywood with his brothers for some time, running a Farm Labor Contracting business, and an array of sales positions. He traveled all over the United States selling insurance for a stint that only solidified his love for this country. He was proud to be an American and with his brothers serving in the military, his son Peter, and many others in the family it cemented that sentiment. Pete enjoyed the sport of baseball and shared his passion by managing Little League baseball teams resulting in winning league titles and coaching All-Star teams in the Imperial Valley. He enjoyed watching sports like baseball, football, and most notably boxing. Some of his hobbies were horse racing, playing cards, and visits to the casino. He was very family oriented and enjoyed getting together with family during holidays, special events, and reunions.
Pete always encouraged all his children to put family first and to be there for one another. He loved Gloria whom he referred to as an angel for caring for him until his final days no matter the struggle or hardship. He had a love of history and geography. Uncle Pete rejoiced in seeing the younger generation’s pride of being a member of the Flores family and encouraged them to know their history. Pete will be remembered for his love of his family, desire to teach his children about their Hispanic heritage, love of country, and his devotion to the Catholic faith. Pete’s memory will live on in through his family.
Pete is survived by his loving spouse, Gloria Villasenor; his children, Peter Flores, III (Dolores), Diego Flores (Marie), Andreanna Flores, Virginia Still (Brian), Joaquin Flores (Cindy), Rosalina Baca (Adam), Geneva Perez (Robert), Isabella Filorio (Albert), Pete Flores Jr. and Belinda Flores; grandchildren, Pedro Alexis Flores IV, Gabriela Flores, Valerie Flores, Vincent Flores, Alicia Still, Justin Still, Jared Still, Ericka Davis, Natasha Kauffman, Christabella, Bambi, Jennifer, Melanie, Frankie, Nickie, Adam, Romie, Gabby, Joseph, Trisha, Alberto, Isabella, Sasha, and Raychelle; 28 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and his last remaining sibling, his sister, Nora Purviance. He was preceded in death by his two sons, Jack Flores and Valentino Flores; his siblings, Lee Flores, Poli Flores, Greg Flores, Lupe Contreras, Bob Flores, and Natalie Flores.
