Nellie Eckles, 87, passed away on Saturday, September 19 in Escalon.
She was born on December 6, 1921 in Standard, Louisiana, and had been a resident of Modesto for 51 years. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother.
Survivors include her children, Nancy Peterson and Bobbie Gonzales of Escalon, Greg Eckles of Lemon Valley, Nevada, and Sandra Tangney of Modesto; her twin sister Rellie Huhtala of Susanville; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Melvin Eckles.
A memorial service was held on Friday, Sept. 25 in Modesto with a private family burial.
