Nancy Louise VanWeerdhuizen, 57, died Saturday, June 6 at the Kaiser Hospital in Modesto after a long illness. She was born to Lamon and Hazel Daniel in Salinas.

Mrs. VanWeerdhuizen loved to talk to children and enjoyed animals of all kinds. She especially enjoyed cattle, goats, dogs, and cats and even had a pet lizard. She enjoyed fishing with her husband and even though her technique was bad she always seemed to out-fish him.

She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Lester VanWeerdhuizen; her sons, Corey Hilliard of Santa Cruz and Kevin Hilliard of Modesto; siblings, Cleatus Daniel of New York, Helen Daniel of Sacramento, Paul Daniel of Elk Grove, and Janet Daniel of Salinas; her grandchildren, Leah Hilliard of Turlock, Julliette Hilliard of Escalon, Racelynn Hilliard of Waterford, and Audry Hilliard of Waterford; father- and mother-in-law, George and Betty VanWeerdhuizen of Escalon; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Richard Daniel, Sharon Patterson, Rodney Daniel and Linda Daniel.

A memorial service was held June 16 at Shelter Cove Community Church, Modesto.
