Lorraine Lillian (Joaquin) Mattesich, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 29.

Born in San Francisco on Feb. 22, 1923, she spent most of her life as a Farmington resident. She graduated from Stockton High School in 1941 and married the love of her life, the late Lloyd Franklin Mattesich, in 1945.

In addition to raising her son and daughter, she was active in her community. Some of the organizations she was involved with included: member of Farmington United Methodist Church for over 60 years, volunteer with Doctor's Medical Center in Modesto for 14 years, member of her Secret Pal organization for over 50 years, avid player in her card club for more than 50 years, and in her later years she led the charge as a Red Hat Society Lady. She also sang in her church choir as well as in countless weddings, sharing the beautiful voice that God gave her.

Full of smiles, laughter, kindness, and sincerity, Mrs. Mattesich was a vivacious woman who embodied the kind of spirit that is often written about, but rarely observed. For those fortunate enough to have known her, she will forever be missed.

She is survived by her children, Stephen and Cathy Mattesich of Pismo Beach, Janet and Ron Weston of Escalon; her grandchildren, Dusti Weston of Escalon, Paul and Erica Mattesich of Ventura, Jeff and Jenny Mattesich of Pasadena, Justin and Becky Cassidy of Port Hueneme, Chris Cassidy and Iggy Taylor of Camarillo; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, May 8 at 1 p.m. at Escalon United Methodist Church, 2000 Jackson Ave., Escalon, preceded by a private graveside service at Farmington Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Farmington United Methodist Church, P O Box 6, Farmington, CA 95230.
