Lavern Gentry, 88, died on Tuesday, Nov. 16 in Mesa, Arizona.

She was born on Oct. 21, 1922 to Elbert and Dessie Mae Vanschuyver in Wanette, Oklahoma. She married Kenneth Gentry on Dec. 14, 1939 and moved to Escalon. They were married 47 years, he preceded her in death.

They raised their family in Escalon and she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Survivors include her four children, two sons, Ray (Lynn) Gentry of Escalon, Dave (Julene) Gentry of Mesa, AZ and two daughters, Jan (Bob) Dornan of Escalon, Fran (Jerry) Lovelady of Mesa, AZ; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Lowe of Riverbank, Rilla Lucas of Fresno, and Pat Yarnell of Modesto.

She will be missed.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Nov.26 at 11 a.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel in Escalon; her burial will be private for her family.
