Kevin E. Kennedie, 51, of Escalon passed away on Saturday, Nov. 23 at St Joseph’s Hospital, after a long battle with organ failure.

He was born on July 30, 1962 to Jane and Case Kennedie. The couple was delayed by a train in Escalon so baby Kevin was actually born in the pickup truck before they made it to the Escalon Memorial Hospital.

He worked as a farm laborer and in commercial construction as a cement finisher until a construction accident and had to return to field labor until he was too sick to work.

He was then cared for by his nephew Anthony Kennedie and grandmother Louise Cardoza until he was admitted into a Tracy Care facility, then returned home for a short time before being admitted into Windsor Hampton Care facility, Stockton where he lived for over two years. He met many new friends and was an inspiration to several residents – he enjoyed the activity room playing bingo, uno, skipbo, puzzles, and conversing with others daily. He met a special lady Shelly and they were able to go once to his favorite restaurant Red Lobster. He enjoyed and cherished visits from family and friends to reminisce of past memories and hearing about his niece’s college softball games. He lived his life to the fullest.

Before the home care Mr. Kennedie enjoyed the outdoors – trap shooting, deer hunting, duck and pheasant hunting, fishing, and being around family and friends. He enjoyed sharing stories with his niece and nephew about their sports and 4H hogs. He loved to tell stories and make people laugh. He was a member of the Escalon Sportsman’s Club.

He is a loving brother and friend.

Survivors include his sister DeeAnna Jackson and brother Mike (Eva) Kennedie; grandmother Louise Cardoza and nephew Anthony Kennedie; nieces Lounette Jackson and Carrie Jackson; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jane and Darrell Mullin and Gradus (Case) Kennedie, Grandpa Tony Cardoza, grandparents Wilma and LeRoy Mullin, and brother Bernardus Kennedie.
