Kathy Eilene Gomes, 59, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014.

She was born to Henry and Elsie Cox on Aug. 19, 1954 in Oakdale.

Mrs. Gomes was a loving wife, mother and grandma. She lived in Escalon for the past 36 years where she was an active member of the First Missionary Baptist Church. She also worked at the Escalon Unified School District, as an instructional assistant, for 31 years before retiring last year.

However, the joy of her life was her family. She always had a story to tell or a picture to share of her children or grandchildren, with whom she spent much time.

She will be missed but will live forever in the hearts of her family, friends and all that knew her.

Survivors include her husband of eight years, Tony Gomes, and her children, Karen Weible of Escalon and Robert Armosino of Escalon; five grandchildren, Makenzie Weible, Kaylee Weible, Garrett Weible, Samantha Armosino and Andrew Armosino, all of Escalon; her mom, Elsie Cox of Escalon and siblings, Judy Cox and Lisa Cox of Escalon and Steven Cox of Midlothian, TX.

She was preceded in death by her dad, Henry Cox and sister, Mary Cox.

Her cheerful attitude and big smile will truly be missed.

Viewing will be Thursday, Aug. 21, noon to 1 p.m. for family, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for the public at Deegan Funeral Chapel in Escalon. Funeral service will be held Friday, Aug. 22 at 10 a.m., also at Deegan and graveside following at Burwood Cemetery in Escalon.
