Kathryn Ann Camoirano, 87, passed away at Casa De Modesto Retirement Center on Saturday, April 17 after a short battle with cancer.

She was born in Colorado City, Texas to Solena and Claude Black on Sept. 3, 1922.

As a young teenager, she came to California with her widowed mother and brother. Most of her family had previously migrated to the Escalon area.

She attended Escalon High School where she excelled in tennis and other sports. After graduating from Escalon High School, she met her future husband, Mario Camoirano, who was the foreman of the House Ranch where she and her family were living at the time. They were married on Halloween in 1941 and settled on their own ranch on River Road where they lived all their married lives. Their daughter Lynn was born in 1942 and their son Ron was born in 1946.

Mrs. Camoirano enjoyed sewing, gardening, and especially, yard sales. She was a loving mother and grandmother, known to them as Nonie.

Survivors include her children, Lynn and Ray Gentry of Escalon and Ron and Arlene Camoirano of Modesto, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Mario in 1980.

A Catholic Funeral Mass was held at St. Patrick's Church in Escalon on Friday, April 23, with burial at St. John's Cemetery.
