David Alexander Costa
Costa

David Alexander Costa, 60, passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 1, 2014.  He was born on October 6, 1954 in Ceres, California to Alex and Mary Costa.  He grew up in Ripon with his siblings, Diane Costa, Dan Costa (Shirley) and Denise Overweg (Steve).  He married the love of his life, Allyn Wood in 1973.  David spent 14 years as the owner of Dave Costa Floors in Escalon before deciding to make a career change and return to his roots as a farmer.  He opened a fruit stand in Escalon where you could purchase his delicious sweet corn and almonds.  He served his community as a volunteer fireman for the Escalon Fire Department for (14) years.  When David wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.  David’s pride and joy were his two daughters, Anjie Vescera (Clay) and Amy Shephard (Luke) and six grandchildren.  His love for his family was matched only by his love for farming and the ocean.  While he enjoyed farming the land, he also enjoyed spending every moment he could on the ocean with his second family in Bodega Bay.  David never knew a stranger and always had a smile on his face, a humorous story to tell or good advice to give.  All of his buddies at the coffee shop would agree.  He had a huge heart and was first to help family or friends.  David will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  A rosary will be held on Sunday, November 9th at 4:00 pm at Deegan Funeral Chapel in Ripon.  The funeral service and burial will take place on Monday, November 10th at 10:00 am at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Escalon followed by a Celebration of Life reception at 12:00 pm at Spring Creek Country Club in Ripon.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Escalon Ambulance or a charity of your choice.

David,

May the road rise to meet you.

May the wind always be at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face.

May the rains fall softly upon your fields.

And until we meet again may the Lord hold you in the palm of His hand.

We love you!
