Cornelia Vander Werff, 80, passed away in Modesto on April 10, 2009.

She was born August 22, 1928, in Alphen a/d Rijn, S. Holland. She immigrated from the Netherlands in 1956 following her husband, Pete, to America. They were married for 53 years.

Mrs. Vander Werff worked side by side with her husband to fulfill their dreams of owning a dairy farm. That dream was fulfilled, and she enjoyed many years of working with Pete on the dairy. She loved gardening and crocheting. She mostly loved nothing more than being with family and friends; singing, dancing and just having a great time. Cora always had a positive attitude; and never had an unkind word to say to anyone.

A member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church for 53 years, she was very involved in church activities; especially being a Minister of the Eucharist, member of the YLI and Altar Society.

A devoted wife, mother, sister, Oma and friend to many, she was a loving mother to Yvonne (Jim) Heryford of Murphys, Caroline (Keith) Rigg of Escalon, and Steven (Vickie) of Melba, Idaho; and a loving Oma to Darren, Brittany and Kristi of Escalon, Haley, Jaymie and Ryan of Murphys, and Clayton, Blake and Luke of Melba, Idaho. Survivors also include her five sisters, Jane Krumpelman of Linden, Ria Dongelmans of Elk Grove, Suus Martens, Nel Redegeld, Lenie Setteur of the Netherlands; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at Deegan Funeral Chapel, 1441 San Joaquin Street in Escalon on Thursday, April 16, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Rosary/Mass will be held at St Patrick's Catholic Church, 19399 East Hwy 120 in Escalon on Friday, April 17 at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.

Donations may be made in Cora's memory to St. Patrick's Church Building Fund, 19399 East Highway 120, Ripon CA 95366.
