Clinton "Ken" Nelson died Sunday, Sept. 19, surrounded by family.

He was born in Washington State; when he was a little boy he moved with his mother to Berkeley and started school. He went into the Army at the age of 16. He served in World War II, and after being honorably discharged from the Army, moved to Oakdale where he lived for 54 years.

Over the years he owned several bars and had his own trucking business.

In 2003, he followed his daughter to Turlock.

He was a very good man who loved his family very much.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Jerrie Nelson; his daughter, Michelle Nelson Burr of Turlock, and his three sons, Mark Nelson of Modesto, Tom Nelson of Turlock, and John Nelson of Oakdale; 11 grandchildren including Ashton Bordenave of Turlock, who was a special caregiver to him; and three great grandchildren.

Memorial service was Friday, Sept. 24, at Deegan Funeral Chapel in Escalon. He was laid to rest at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery with Army Military Honors.
