Chelestina Morino, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012 in Modesto, CA.

She was born on Jan. 4, 1927 in the Imperial Valley of California. Her family moved to Escalon in 1941. Chelestina attended school in Escalon and graduated from Escalon High School in 1946. She married Jake Morino in 1953, settled in Ripon and started farming almonds and grapes. She was a charter member of the Young Ladies Institute of St. Patrick's Church (YLI). She was also a member of the Ripon Arts League, Escalon Accordion Club, the Dante Club of Modesto, and the Stanislaus County Swiss Club.

Even after the death of her husband Jake in 1968, she continued to farm their land with the help of their children, and her brothers. She also worked at several fruit stands, and at Madsen's Sunrise Dairy for several years, before retiring.

Survivors include her children Kathleen Davis (Steve) of Ripon, Danny Morino (Celeste) of Escalon, and Paul Morino (Carri) of Escalon; four brothers, Tino Farinelli of Escalon, Albert Farinelli of Oakdale, Bobby Farinelli of Holdenville, Oklahoma, and Gino Farinelli of Escalon; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jake, brothers Celivo (Cy) and Bruno, and her parents Ezio and Palma Farinelli.

Viewing was at Deegan's Memorial Chapel, Ripon, on Sunday, Dec. 16. The rosary and mass were at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Monday, Dec.17. Burial followed at St. John's Cemetery.
