Beatrice Odell Sanford, 79, of Escalon passed away Thursday, May 22, 2008 at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson.

Born on July 2, 1928 in Columbia, Mississippi, she was a longtime resident of Escalon.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, camping, stained glass, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an active member of Don Pedro Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children, Linda Bettencourt of La Grange, G. Verna Dickson of Redding and Paul Sanford of Kenduskeag, Maine; sisters, Betty Parker of Columbia, Mississippi and Velma (Polly) Russell of Horn Lake, Mississippi; grandchildren, Mark Bettencourt of Manteca, Darlene Costa of Manteca, Keith Dickson of Long Beach, Kevin Dickson of South Carolina, Jason Sanford of Maine and John Sanford of Maine; great grandchildren, Nicole and Ashley Bettencourt and Eleanor, Miles and Holland Dickson.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Maxwell G. Sanford in November, 1988 and her brothers, Ozzie Rutland, Norman Rutland and Cordall Rutland, all of Columbia, Mississippi.

A memorial service was Tuesday, May 27 at Deegan Funeral Chapel, Escalon with interment at Burwood Cemetery on River Road.
