ANNA E. HAMILTON-SISSOM

Anna Sissom of Modesto passed into eternal glory on January 12, 2015, at the age of 96.

Anna was born in 1918 in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas to Eva and Francis Green. She graduated from Tahlequah (OK) High School at age 16, attended Northeastern State Teacher’s College there and later earned her Bachelor of Education degree from San Francisco State. She spent her career as “Mrs. Hamilton”, a respected and admired teacher and school administrator at Burwood and El Portal schools in Escalon. Anna was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shelley, her son, Jack, and husbands Frank Hamilton and Calvin Sissom.  She is survived by her son, Bill, a step-daughter, Mrs. Harold Bennett, grandchildren Felicia, Steve, Jared, and Jason, great-grandsons, Cameron, Shon and Nathan along with many beloved extended family and friends. A faithful follower of Christ for more than 60 years, Anna will also be remembered for her enjoyment of cooking, travel, food preserving, bird watching, gardening, reading, crosswords, crocheting and her family. Viewing will be Wednesday, January 21 from 4-8pm at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel, 419 Scenic Drive, Modesto. A graveside service will be held at Burwood Cemetery on Thursday, January 22 at 1pm.
