Angelo Nomelli

Angelo Nomelli, 78, passed away after a short battle with cancer on Thursday, Sept. 25 at his home in Modesto.

He was born June 30, 1930.

Mr. Nomelli retired from Gallo Winery after working as a supervisor for 35 years and was also a veteran of the US Marine Corp. He enjoyed playing cards and horse racing and will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife Barbara Nomelli, married for 54 years; his children Tag & Marcy Nomelli of Hickman, Norma Bennett of Modesto, Debbie Swisegood of Modesto, Debbie Burgoyne of Nevada, and Rick Nomelli of Nevada; his sisters, Linda Overmyer of Stockton and Daisy McDowell of Escalon; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son Steve Sherman.

Funeral service will be on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 1 p.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel, 1441 San Joaquin St. in Escalon, with burial following at Burwood Cemetery, 28320 East River Road, Escalon.
