Allen E. Ming, 72, passed away at home on April 3, 2024, from congestive heart failure. He was born on October 21, 1951, in San Diego, CA and was the youngest of four siblings. He grew up attending grammar school and high school in Holtville, CA. He joined the U.S. Army on November 30, 1970, and was honorably discharged October 9, 1971, serving most of his time stationed in Germany. Shortly after returning home he moved to the San Joaquin Valley, living first in Modesto then Escalon. He worked in the winery business for 37 years mostly in the cellar department, first at Franzia Winery in Ripon, then Bronco Winery in Ceres, retiring in 2009.

He married Margaret (Gigi) Beeler on June 8, 1974. They made their first home in Salida and later moved to Escalon, living there for the next 47 years. During his active lifetime, his activities included baseball, bowling, golf, hunting, fishing and playing cards. He was known for his teasing, playing a joke or pulling a prank. After retirement, he volunteered for several years at the Escalon Animal Shelter. At home he took over most of the cooking, made red wine vinegar and a dry rub. He mostly enjoyed puttin’ around, going to yard sales in his red 1951 GMC pickup. He was a member of the San Joaquin Valley Swiss Club in Ripon.

Allen is survived by his wife Margaret (Gigi) Ming; his siblings, Pryscilla Granillo of Holtville, Dale Ming (Carolyn) of Sparks, NV, his brother in-law, Joe Beeler (Theresa) of Ripon and sister in-law, Diana Beeler of Ripon. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as four great-great nephews. Allen is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Delores Ming, his brother and sister in-law, Teddy, and Berta Ming; nieces Carol Granillo and Lauren Saldana; in-laws, Adolph and Theresa Beeler; brother in-laws, Frank and Ernest Beeler.

Deegan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Ming family. At Allen’s request, there will only be a graveside service, April 19, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, 17871 Carrolton Road, Escalon; all who knew him are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the San Joaquin Valley Swiss Club (KSC fund), P.O. Box 373, Ripon, CA 95366; Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356, an animal shelter, or any charity of your choice.
