Local youngsters taking part in basketball programs can enjoy a night of hoops for free.

Friday night, Jan. 24 is being observed as Youth Basketball Night at Escalon High School. Young players that wear their City of Escalon youth basketball jersey or El Portal basketball jersey will get free admission to the game.

There will be three boys basketball contests played on Friday, starting with the freshman game with a 4 p.m. tip off. They will be followed by the JV game at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity game at 7 p.m.

The Cougars are welcoming the Hilmar Yellowjackets to town for the trio of Trans-Valley League contests.

Youth Basketball Night is hosted each season, encouraging the younger players to come and watch the high school competition at no charge.
