Traffic Stop Yields Drugs And Weapons

Escalon Police reported the arrest of four subjects following a traffic stop shortly after midnight on Sunday, Dec. 9.

According to police, Officer Ryan Smith stopped a vehicle in connection with a minor traffic violation. The driver was identified as Cassie Harris, 26, of Stockton and police said there were also three passengers in the vehicle. They were identified as Anthony Barkley, 26; Aaron Hipes, 45; and Kayla Vaughn, 19, all from Stockton.

One of the subjects was on probation in connection with a prior theft case and a probation search of the vehicle was subsequently conducted. It was during this search that police said they located a loaded .40-caliber handgun, 30 grams of methamphetamine, four grams of honey oil and over a half-pound of marijuana. Also found were prescription medications Xanax and Codeine, along with a scale, packaging materials and a honey oil lab.

All four subjects were arrested on various charges. Harris, the driver, was arrested on several drug and weapons charges while Barkley was arrested on several drug charges, Hipes charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and Vaughn was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of San Jose.
