An eastbound tomato truck spilled part of its load in Escalon the afternoon of Thursday, Sept. 29. Escalon Police were notified of the incident, in which the cable that was holding the tomato bin on the truck snapped while the truck was rounding a curve at Highway 120 and Fourth Street. The tomato bin slid off the truck and onto the south side of the roadway, tomatoes spilling out of the bin. Escalon Public Works assisted in cleaning up the spill and some of the tomatoes were also given away.
