Dent Elementary School’s PTO, Parent Teacher Organization, recently held its annual Pie Fundraiser, as Dent students sold pies from The Pie Company at the end of October.

Every pie sold earned $6 toward the seller’s grade level account. The grade level accounts accumulate as the students go through Dent and when the students are in fourth grade a portion of that account goes toward offsetting the cost of the annual Asilomar trip. The remaining balance goes to El Portal to help Dent students pay for science camp when they reach sixth grade.

This year students sold 1,848 pies schoolwide.

The top selling students earned a chance to pie their teacher or administrator at an assembly on Friday, Dec. 2

Top Sellers by grade level, with at least 30 pies sold, were: Kindergarten, Devyn Diaz, Rylee McCoon; second grade, Ainsley Jackson, Maddie Johnson; third grade, Mia Terry; fifth grade, Lola Freeseha, Emily Lourenco, Elie Gomez, Ryker Lial.

As another incentive the PTO offered a Popcorn and Movie Party to the top four classes. Winners were 211 pies: Mr. Casazza’s class; 117 pies: Ms. Hillstrom; 109 pies: Mr. Rockwell; 100 pies: Mrs. Morino/Mrs. May.
